This book was all that I expected. It is an excellant source book for commercial real estate analysis.

An added benefit is that it weighs a ton and therefore provides a good weight training workout.

This may be the worst book on real estate or mortgage markets that I have ever seen. The authors seem to be saying "Look how smart we are!" I have an MBA from University of Chicago and much of the book is a bad rephrasing of inroductory corporate finance. My book for the real estate class at University of Chicago was by Bruggman (?) and Fisher; although that book will not win any awards, it is vastly superior. This book could easily lose 1/2 of its contents. Don't waste your money.

This book is unusable on its own. As a textbook in an advanced real estate course, with an inspired professor, this book would probably rate five stars. As a book from which a reader can extract useable information, this book is one star at best. For example, Internal Rate of Return can't be found in the index. By leafing through the book, you can find a brief explanation of the concept, which is far too complex and incomplete for an intelligent reader to use. I am a real estate developer with 30 years experience. I have bookshelves full of real estate books. This one goes to the bottom of the pile. Save your money.

Just everything okay, considering it had to be shipped from the US to the UK, arrived even earlier than some of the books I ordered same time from UK suppliers.
Small unsubstantial damage on cover of book though, probably caused by transport.

My rating is based on two criteria: (1) The authors can't write readable prose. They do not even know how to constuct a coherent paragraph, let alone build a coherent full-bodied narrative. Mostly academic jargon. (2) The authors say that you can view commercial real estate from many perspectives, but they emphasize financial economics. Unfortunately, anyone who restricts their view to fin econ cannot make sensible decisions. This perspective renders the book useless. It's clear the authors have no practical knowledge of commercial real estate -- or if they do they're keeping it a secret. Written primarily to impress their buddies in university econ and finance departments.

Real Estate brings a sound that should be familiar to indie rock fans, but it never really feels old. Definitely a band to watch out for in the future.

Just discovering the pleasures of this great album. There's a surprising intensity and happy urgency for what seemingly appears to be just another jangly semi-low-fi-indie album. Forget all the labels and categories, put aside a small part of your day, and let Real Estate's pleasurable music usher in your Spring/Summer of 2010. Joyful stuff !!

This is a pretty good lo-fi album. It reminds me of a little bit of 'let it be' era replacements mixed with a little modest mouse. I really like that the vocals are in the bottom of the mix and are hardly audible. I think this is great because you have to strain to hear the words witch makes them more important. I did find that some of the songs were a little to sparse and repetitive but on a whole it was a good listening experience.

I immediately fell in love with this album. I always try to find bands that really catch my ear and attention, especially with all the clone bands going around these days that are not in it for the art but for the fame, and these guys really really did pull me in. One of my favorite albums to listen to is slowly becoming sonic opium for me: slow, glistening, nonchalant, stagnant, and addicting. One of my favorite lines of all time in the most unexpected of places is in this album:

"Until you find your rolex in the sand
You'll be stopping
Until that solid gold is in your hand
You'll be happy"

That line just clangs at the core of me. I have seen thm twice and both times they were amazing. So go listen to this album's entirety and enjoy a nice dose of sonic opium because this album will make you heavy.

I bought this CD after hearing good things about Real Estate from several normally reliable sources. I did enjoy the instrumentals, but my appreciation of the other songs was greatly diminished by the murky and indistinct vocals, which sound as if they were recorded with the mic all the way across the room from the singer. To me it seems obvious how much better this music would be if only we could hear the singing better.
